Marlana P.
Private tutor in Highlands Ranch, CO
Education
I graduated in May 2015 from MSU Denver with a degree in English and minor in Secondary Education. I graduated with Summa Cum Lade honors. I am currently pursuing my graduate degree in Differentiated Instruction through Concordia University.
Experience
I tutored for a year and a half through college in reading, writing, public speaking, and philosophy. I completed my student teaching in the spring, during which time I taught Honors 9th grade English and 11th grade English for students with special needs, so I have experience working with students who are gifted and talented as well students who need a little extra help. I am currently working as a teacher's intern at Valor Christian High School.

Hobbies
I enjoy reading and writing, anything from fiction to non-fiction to poetry. I love to travel and have been to Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize, and Nepal; I also spent two months in India doing missions work in Mother Teresa homes as well as through a church we partnered with in the slums of Kolkata. I am passionate about English and find talking about literature and writing one of the most enjoyable pastimes. I also love theater and work as an assistant director at the school I work at. But most importantly, I love working with young adults and helping them discover their true potential. I think every student is capable of great things, some might just need a little extra help getting there.
