Experience
Before moving to Colorado, I had several wonderful Math & Algebra tutoring experiences with grades ranging from 3rd to 10th grade. I loved being able to connect with students and tailor their learning plans to something they could relate to which enabled them to be successful. During the first lesson, I will ask questions to discover what your or your child's learning style is first before crafting an approach. I have good success tailoring for kinetic and visual learners in addition to being able to explain the application of the subject to industry and how it may help them choose a career. Having started college at 14 personally, I can also relate to the challenges that AP and Dual Credit students may face. I also have particular experience with the Math XL software package used by many Colorado schools. While it has the advantage of providing instant feedback to the student, I've found that occasionally correct answers are marked as wrong due to syntax errors in the software which sadly leads to lost confidence and frustration. I work especially with students to not only understand the subjects, but also how to submit homework in a manner that maximizes possible credit. My industry experience also includes 3+ yrs working as a Firefighter/EMT for both 911 and inter-facility transport ambulances and 10+ yrs of engineering for: Suomi NPP (NPOESS) Satellite Orion Spacecraft ...and would be happy to provide a full resume upon request.
